Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged is a 14-inch semi-rugged 5G-capable laptop with Intel Tiger Lake and optional Nvidia Quadro T500 Mobile graphics
Alongside the Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme, Dell also announced the Latitude 5430 Rugged laptop targeted for workers in demanding environmental conditions. Unlike the Latitude 7330, which is a fully-rugged device, the Latitude 5430 Rugged is a 5G-capable 14-inch semi-rugged laptop.
The starting weight of the Latitude 5430 Rugged is just 1.97 kg. Dell said that the laptop is drop-tested from up to three feet to meet MIL-STD-810 standards and is IP53-rated for protection against dust, dirt, and water ingress. Like its 13-inch cousin, the Latitude 5430 Rugged is also among the first Dell laptops to ship with Windows 11 pre-installed.
CPU configurations offered by Dell include Intel Tiger Lake options such as the Core i5-1135G7, Core i5-1145G7, and Core i7-1185G7 that can be accompanied by 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of DDR4-3200 dual-channel SODIMM RAM along with several NVMe storage options. Buyers can also configure the Latitude 5430 Rugged with an optional Nvidia Quadro T500 discrete GPU.
The Latitude 5430 Rugged offers two 14-inch 60 Hz FHD display options — a non-touch, 400-nit panel and a touchscreen that can attain 1,100 nits brightness for outdoor viewing. Connectivity options are abundant along with Wi-Fi 6E and optional 5G powered by the Snapdragon X55 5G modem. The laptop is also FirstNet Ready with Band 14 for mission-critical connectivity during emergencies.
A dual hot-swappable battery system comprised of two 3-cell 53.5 Wh batteries available in ExpressCharge and Long Life Cycle variants complete the package. Dell claims a battery life of 25 hours on the move with the ability to charge up to 35% of the battery in 20 minutes.
The Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged will be available worldwide on December 9, 2021.
