For privacy purposes, most business laptops come with additional hardware-based security features and protocols that consumer laptops typically lack. Processors and chipsets are tweaked to support the features which Intel and AMD have marketed as vPro and PRO, respectively.
The latest PRO processor from AMD just so happens to be the fastest in its category by quite the margin against Intel. As a derivative of the impressive Ryzen 7 4800U, the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U utilizes a similar 8-core and 16-thread architecture for an insane level of multi-thread performance especially in its ULV 15 W to 25 W category. Intel's closest competitor at the moment is the Comet Lake-U Core i7-10810U which is "only" a hexa-core vPro solution. Raw CPU benchmarks show the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U outperforming the Core i7-10810U by about 70 percent in multi-threaded performance while single-threaded performance is neck-to-neck.
The advantages don't end at just CPU performance as graphics performance is even more in favor of AMD. The integrated Radeon RX Vega 7 in the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U may be slightly slower than the Radeon RX Vega 8 in the Ryzen 7 4800U, but it is still significantly faster than the ancient UHD Graphics 620 in the Core i7-10810U without needing to break the 25 W TDP envelope. The extra GPU horsepower will be of value for the occasional editing, rendering, or any other application where graphics is important.
An annoying drawback to the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U is that it's only available on a select few laptops at the moment like the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s, ThinkPad T14s, or HP EliteBook 845 G7 to name a few. Business laptops with Intel vPro options vastly outnumber the AMD variants. If you're looking for the fastest and highest performance-per-watt on a business laptop, however, then we highly recommend investing in AMD Ryzen PRO SKUs whenever possible.
