When you buy a Dell XPS 15 9500, you expect all XPS 15 9500 SKUs to look the same with the only major differences being performance or other internal hardware adjustments. As another example, a 2020 MacBook Pro Core i5 is not expected to have any major external differences from a 2020 MacBook Pro Core i7. The same cannot be said for the Asus ROG Strix G17 G713.
The G713 series consists of 16 different SKUs as of this writing. Not only is this already difficult to keep track of, but these SKUs differ in significant ways from performance to size and even battery capacity and AC adapters. Users should be aware that the two letters following G713 are therefore vital to knowing exactly what you'll be buying and what the system will actually come with.
To Asus' credit, the official product page does a good job at listing all the differences between the 16 SKUs. Our table below details some of the major differences between the major models in the series. Nonetheless, the fact that Asus offers two very different models with almost identical names makes it tricky for buyers.
