We have previously covered several devices made by 8849, a sub-brand of Unihertz offering a range of rather distinctive smartphones, such as the Tank 3 Pro (approx. $620 on Amazon). Joining the lineup is the Tank 4 – another unique 8849 model featuring an integrated projector. It is currently available for preorder from the official online shop for around $420, with shipping expected to begin on 28 August. The price is set to increase as more units are sold during the preorder period.
Whilst the Tank 4 measures a hefty 147.3 x 85.4 x 23.9 mm (5.80 x 3.36 x 0.94 in) and weighs 538 g (1.19 lb), users stand to benefit from its massive 11,600 mAh battery, which supports 66-watt fast charging over USB-C. Another factor contributing to its beefy design is probably the onboard DLP projector with a 720p resolution. However, its brightness rating of just 100 lumens may pose a major limitation, making it best suited for well-darkened environments or smaller screen sizes.
The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, paired with a decent 12 GB of RAM and a generous 512 GB of internal storage. It can accommodate dual SIM cards, along with a memory card for storage expansion. The camera setup includes a 50 MP main shooter, an 8 MP telephoto lens, and a 64 MP night-vision camera. A large torchlight rounds out its feature set for low-light use.
