TCL announced the PLEX smartphone at IFA 2019 prior to releasing it in October of the same year. It is a mid-ranger powered by the Snapdragon 675 SoC, although its OEM claims it benefits from a 6.53-inch FHD+ display made specially for it from its own display tech, as well as the ability to control TVs from the same brand with a proprietary cast system.
Despite all this, the PLEX has remained on an older version of Android for its life-cycle thus far. Now, however, TCL has addressed this with a new software upgrade, known as version 2.0.2B.A.G for the phone. It adds many hallmarks of this OS' current latest version, a dark mode for the system and gesture controls for navigation and the Google Assistant included.
However, PLEX owners may be annoyed to note that any settings they have chosen for this phone's hardware "smart key" will be wiped out due to the addition of up to 30 new options for the same. In addition, TCL has included a new in-house file-sharing app (which is often unnecessary due to pre-existing third-party choices) with this upgrade. There is also a new Game Mode, which may go well with a novel pre-load: Modern Combat Rebel Guns.
