Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 Lite in July 2018, and is one of the few smartphones that the Chinese company has released running Android One. The OS offers a near-stock Android-experience, with Google promising that two years of software updates for each Android One-certified handset.
Google also claims that Android One offers timelier updates than custom Android skins do, but that has not proved the case with the Mi A2 Lite. While the Mi A2 and Mi A3 have already received Android 10, the Mi A2 Lite remains on Android 9.0 Pie. Worse still, there have been reports of Xiaomi ceasing support for the device after just one OS upgrade.
In response, people have started petitioning Xiaomi to deliver Android 10 for the Mi A2 Lite. At the time of writing, almost 500 people have signed a Change.org petition, with others contacting Xiaomi directly. Another company representative has sought to calm fears though, writing "yes but we don't know when" to one plea for the Mi A2 Lite to be upgraded to Android 10.
While it remains unclear when the Mi A2 Lite will receive Android 10, the device is likely to be upgraded at some stage. Google's requirement of Android OEMs to supply at least two year's of software updates indicates as much at any rate.
