Suunto has finally released the 9 Peak Pro, a smartwatch that retailers leaked several times during the summer. As expected, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro resembles its non-Pro sibling, with a 43 mm case that is also 10.8 mm thick and weighs 64 g. In short, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro is slightly thicker than the Suunto 9 Peak, as well as being a few grams heavier.
Unsurprisingly, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro shares a few other specifications with its sibling, such as its sapphire crystal display, its 22 mm compatibility and its 240 x 240-pixel display. Ultimately, the Suunto's new smartwatch only differs from the Suunto 9 Peak internally. Specifically, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro relies on a new chipset that improves battery life. Supposedly, the smartwatch will last up to 30 days or 300 hours with GPS activated, up from 14 days and 170 hours for the Suunto 9, respectively.
Additionally, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro supports Beidou, Galileo, Glonass and GPS satellite systems and can connect to 32 satellites simultaneously for precise location accuracy. Moreover, the Suunto 9 Peak Pro only needs an hour's charging to replenish fully, and is waterproof to up to 100 metres. Incidentally, Suunto has equipped its latest smartwatch with a revised UI and 97 sports modes to choose from.
At launch, Suunto offers the 9 Peak Pro in six variants, starting from €499 with a stainless steel bezel. Alternatively, the company sells the Suunto 9 Peak Pro with a titanium bezel for €629. More details about all variants can be found on Suunto's website.
