Pixel Watch: Google announces metal watch band prices in multiple markets
Last week, Google presented the Pixel Watch, as well as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Subsequently, the company has outlined the metal watch straps which it will sell alongside its inaugural smartwatch. As the company's marketing images show, the Pixel Watch will soon support Milanese and metal link watch straps, although it describes the former as 'metal mesh' instead.
Regardless, Google's metal watch bands start at US$129, €129 in the Eurozone and £129 in the UK. While cheaper than their metal link counterparts, Google's Milanese bands are roughly a third more expensive than Apple's equivalents for Watch Series, Watch SE and Watch Ultra smartwatches. For reference, Google plans to sell its Milanese bands in Champagne Gold, Matte Black and Polished Silver colourways. Incidentally, Google will only offer one size that fits people with wrists that are 137-203 mm in circumference.
Worse still, Google has decided to pitch its metal link bands at US$199.99, or €199 in the Eurozone and £199 in the UK. Showcased in Brushed Silver and Matte Black so far, the watch band is actually cheaper than Apple's version. Seemingly, Google's version works like any other metal link band, which is to say that you can remove links when necessary to fit your wrist. Bizarrely, none of Google's metal watch bands will be available until spring 2023 at the earliest, despite the Pixel Watch's impending release.
