Earlier this month, reports emerged about the Watch GT Cyber, a smartwatch that is expected to launch alongside the P50 Pocket New. Subsequently, new rumours allege that Huawei intends to release the Watch GT Cyber later this month, albeit probably only in China. Typically, Huawei takes a few months before bringing its wearables to other markets, such as Europe and the UK.
Additionally, Huawei is now reported to have delayed the introduction of its fourth-generation smartwatches. For context, while the Watch 3 series debuted in June 2021, it took until April 2022 before the company introduced the Watch GT 3 Pro. Purportedly, neither the Watch 4 nor the Watch GT 4 series will arrive this year. Instead, Huawei is rumoured to have pushed both models well into 2023.
Allegedly, Huawei does not want to compromise Watch 3 and Watch GT 3 series, which remain strong. In saying that, the Watch GT 3 series now competes against a newer generation of smartwatches than when it arrived over the summer. Not only has Samsung started selling the Watch 5 series, but Apple has introduced the Watch Series 8 and the Watch Ultra, while Google has just started shipping the Pixel Watch. Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen what features the Watch GT Cyber offers and how Huawei will distinguish it from its existing smartwatches.
