Huawei removes Leica branding from P50 Pro smartphones

Huawei has updated its P50 Pro product page, two months after introducing the smartphone. Unsurprisingly, Huawei has removed references to its cooperation with Leica, which has now struck up a comparable agreement with Xiaomi. Incidentally, the P50 Pro arrived after Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which all feature Leica branding.

Presumably, Huawei finalised P50 Pro development before Xiaomi finished off the Xiaomi 12S series. Regardless, Huawei's change implies that the P50 Pro is its final Leica-infused smartphone, for better or worse. However, it is unclear why Huawei has removed Leica branding at this stage when retailers continue to promote the P50 Pro as they have from launch day.

Seemingly, the change has not affected the camera hardware with which the P50 Pro ships. Hence, the device retains its 50 MP primary camera with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture, as well as its 13 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f/2.2), its 40 MP B&W camera (f/1.6) and its 64 MP telephoto camera (f/3.5), another sensor with OIS. Separately, @RODENT950 points out that Huawei has silently removed the power charger that it previously included as a complimentary accessory.
