Computex '23 | Streacom shows fanless PC case that dissipates 600+ W of heat from an i9-13900K + RTX 4080 system ↺
Totally silent PCs usually come in mini PC cases that are powered by low-power components, but we have seen exceptions like the MonsterLabo Beast case or the fanless RTX 3080 rig built inside a Turemetal case. These latter examples cost significantly more and feature ATX designs that can cool up to 400 W of power, which was enough a few years ago for slightly undervolted high-end components. The current gen high-end CPUs and GPUs require well above 400 W unfortunately, so we are probably looking at 700+ W for an RTX 4090 and an i9-13900K alone. Streacom’s upcoming SG10 case that currently is on display at Computex ‘23 might do the trick here, as it can passively dissipate 600+ W of heat, although we probably need to dial down the specs a bit.
Streacom’s fanless SG10 case can effectively cool a 250 W CPU and a 350 W GPU, making it ideal for an i7-13900K and an RTX 4080 with some undervolting tweaks. This case has a horizontal orientation, with two big aluminum heatsinks sitting at the top, one for the CPU and one for the GPU. In order to achieve such high dissipation potential, Streacom’s design combines traditional heatpipe cooling with AIO elements, featuring copper pipes and dual-loop tubes. The pipes and tubes circulate liquid coolant going through a cycle of evaporation and condensation, making the whole system act as a pumpless liquid cooler.
The motherboard and GPU are mounted diagonally in opposite directions, forming an X design. Users will need to remove the factory GPU coolers themselves and fit the provided plate with tubes. Streacom recommends GPU PCBs no longer than 280 mm. Measuring 608 x 268 x 520 mm, the case is made of steel and aluminum and weighs 15 kg. An interesting feature is offered through the I/O extensions that can be placed anywhere on the rear and front sides.
Total power draw for the i9-13900K + RTX 4080 system on display at Computex 2023 was measured at 660W, including some NVMe storage. Streacom does not recommend more than 320 W TGP for the GPU. The SG10 case is expected to see availability in late 2023, but it will be very expensive at ~US$999.
