Sony to refresh WH-1000XM6 over-ear wireless headphones with new version

Sony's WF-1000XM6 earbuds have just been detailed by a retailer ahead of their long-awaited release. Tipped to launch for $329.99 in the US and €299.99 in the Eurozone, the WF-1000XM6 look quite different to the WF-1000X earbuds that have come before. At the same time, Sony may not be done with the WH-1000XM6 yet either (curr. $398 on Amazon).
Specifically, Roland Quandt has shed light on Sony's upcoming plans for its high-end pair of over-ear wireless headphones. For context, Sony released the WH-1000XM6 in May 2025. At launch, the company offered the headphones in three colours to mirror almost all the colours in which the WH-1000XM5 was eventually available. Based on Quandt's recent Bluesky post, Sony is finally preparing to recreate the WH-1000XM5's final colourway for the WH-1000XM6 too.
As the embedded post below shows, Quandt alleges that Sony has also developed the WH-1000XM6 in a new Sandpink colourway. While images of this new version have not emerged yet, we suspect it will resemble its predecessor's Smoky Pink variant pictured above. Quandt has not outlined release details, either. However, the timing of this leak suggests that this new WH-1000XM6 variant could debut alongside the WF-1000XM6, which is rumoured to launch later this month globally.
btw, the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones will get a new color called "Sandpink" as well.
