Final unveils DX4000 CL closed-back headphones with Japanese washi paper composite diaphragms

Final has unveiled the DX4000 CL closed-back, over-ear headphones designed to replicate the spacious soundstage of an open-back model.
The company says it has achieved this by using extra-thick 30 mm (1.18 in.) memory foam ear pads along with a low-distortion driver and low-resonance structure. The driver utilizes diaphragms made of Japanese washi paper infused with carbon for lightweight rigidity. Behind the driver, a special sound diffuser with fine ribs cancels out reflections while reducing resonance, according to the company.
The headphones are designed to be field-serviced and can be easily taken apart to replace individual components. It comes with a 2 m (6.6 ft.) detachable cable with a 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) connector, and a 4.4 mm (1/4-inch) adapter is also included.
Readers can order the Final DX4000 CL headphones today for 128,000 yen (~$829) on the company's Japanese website, with deliveries starting on February 6, 2026. Readers can browse the company's other offerings in the Final store on Amazon US.
