Sony Xperia 5 V rumoured to launch soon as unreleased Sony 5G smartphones surface on FCC database
Sumaho Digest has been digging around for launch details about the Xperia 5 V, Sony's second flagship of 2023. While Sony has not confirmed anything officially yet, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently published initial documents for two new 5G Sony smartphones. Additionally, we are fast approaching the first anniversary of the Xperia 5 IV, which debuted on September 1.
Reportedly, Sony will announce the device's successor before September rolls around. If this is the case, then it would effectively leave the company a single working week from today in which it could present the Xperia 5 V while meeting this alleged deadline. Although that seems unlikely, Sony has form for dropping a teaser video a few days prior to a major product launch.
Thus, we may see some sort of Xperia 5 V teaser next week, with a full unveiling occurring in early September. Either way, the design of Sony's next smaller flagship has already leaked online courtesy of a promotional video that surfaced last month. As we discussed at the time, Sony appears to have ditched the telephoto camera for its latest Xperia 5, potentially to help distinguish the more expensive Xperia 1 V from its smaller sibling.
