Three months after the release of its mainstream flagship smartphone of the year, the Xperia 1 IV, Sony is finally set to bring a traditionally compact alternative to the market, with the company now confirming an announcement event.
As revealed on the official Xperia handle a short while ago, Sony is preparing a product announcement event for September 1. To be exact, the post makes no mentions of what device exactly will be showcased at that date, but the rumor mill strongly indicates the Xperia 5 IV bears that honor. The shared video also alludes to it, with the tagline "Be creative. Go compact". There is, of course, a chance that a successor to the Xperia Pro-I makes an appearance as well, but that looks unlikely as word of such a device hardly exists.
The Xperia 5 IV will mostly be a more compact version of the Xperia 1 IV, and is tipped to feature wireless charging and up to 12 GB of RAM. A price tag of US$999 is expected, although it's unknown if Sony will equip it with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the Xperia 1 IV.
