Sony has got its Xperia division into something of a pickle lately after seemingly ending the Xperia 5 without so much as a farewell for its compact flagship. While the company sought to reassure fans recently, this is against the backdrop of Xperia 1 VII defects that paused sales.
Nonetheless, it seems that Sony is still pressing ahead with a new mid-range model. To recap, Xperia 10 VII specifications have surfaced earlier this year. A few months later, the first apparent concrete evidence regarding Sony's Xperia 10 VI successors emerged via a mobile network carrier.
According to new reports, Sony will help distinguish the Xperia 10 VII from its predecessor by offering improved software support. Matching the Xperia 1 VII, the Xperia 10 VII is rumoured to be launching later this year with a promise of four OS updates. Even so, this would still see Sony falling short of Samsung, which affords seven years of OS updates to its mid-range options like the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 (curr. $499 on Amazon). Unfortunately, the extent of the Xperia 10 VII's release plans remains unknown for now. In the meantime, Sony has now started hiding previously free Xperia features behind a paywall.
