The first next-generation gaming laptop for Linux users is here, courtesy of Slimbook. The Slimbook Titan also supports Windows, but Slimbook focuses primarily on Linux. Accordingly, the Slimbook Titan will ship with Ubuntu for free, although Slimbook offers Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro and dual boot options. Additionally, you can configure the machine with Spanish, English US, English UK and German keyboards.
An AMD Ryzen 7 5800H lies at the Slimbook Titan's heart, which the company has complemented with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. There is also a 15.6-inch IPS display that runs natively at QHD and 165 Hz, along with two DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slots, dual M.2 2280 slots and an aluminium chassis. Moreover, Slimbook has included RGB lighting, a 93.4 Wh battery, three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB Type-C, one HDMI and a single RJ45 connection.
Slimbook will begin shipping the Titan in May 2021, according to the order page. The company lists the machine's base price at €1,750, but it is currently running a pre-order discount of €151, bringing the cost of the Titan to a minimum of €1,599. Equipping the Titan with 32 GB of RAM and a Windows 10 Home licence increases the price to €1,925, or €1,824 if you pre-order it, which remains good value in our eyes.
