Shirley Curry, better known as the 'Skyrim Grandma', has earned herself a permanent place in the gaming community with over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube, but after almost ten years, it's now over. In an emotional video, the elderly YouTuber explains the reasons behind the end of her career.

Shirley Curry launched her YouTube channel in 2015 at the age of 79. The channel description reads, "I am an 88 year old grandmother who loves to play and record games! I live in OHIO, USA. I love to play Skyrim. I am a widow. I have 4 sons, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. My birthday is April 2nd."

Thanks to her charming and easy-going manner, Curry was able to quickly build up a large community with her Let's Plays - mainly for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The "Skyrim granny" has now published more than 2,300 videos and has long since broken the 1 million mark on YouTube. On September 23, however, the US-American said goodbye to her role as a gaming YouTuber. In her farewell video, she honestly explained her reasons:

"I'm just doing it for fun, and it isn't fun anymore. I'm tired of it, and I'm bored to death with it."

Curry is ending her YouTube career of her own free will. Instead, she now wants to devote herself to other hobbies, including quilting, which she has been planning for a long time. This is a needlework technique in which several layers of fabric are sewn together to form blankets. Fortunately, the Skyrim granny is unlikely to disappear from the scene completely. She says she is planning vlogs about books and other personal projects.
