The upcoming RPG title, which has a dedicated fanbase on multiple other platforms, is now making its way to the Switch 2. It is now slated to see the light of day this October.

Sega and Atlus have officially announced that Persona 3 Reload, the highly praised remake of the original Persona 3, will launch on the Nintendo Switch on October 23, 2025. The news was announced in a launch trailer during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.

However, the hype around the game has somewhat dampened, as Sega has now confirmed that the physical release will come as a Game-Key Card instead of a full cartridge. Moreover, the $35 DLC expansion “Episode Aigis: The Answer” won’t be included even in the premium edition by default.

Pre-orders for Persona 3 Reload are now live on the Nintendo eShop, including options for a $59.99 Standard Edition, a $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition featuring an artbook and soundtrack, and a $89.99 Digital Premium Edition with DLC outfits.

According to X user NSuperGamerGuy, a Japanese retailer listing revealed, to the dismay of many, stated that Persona 3 Reload’s physical release will be on a Game-Key Card. On the other end of the spectrum, Sega’s Sonic Racing CrossWorld will arrive as a full cartridge release in early 2026.

Moreover, the decision to opt out of including the $35 Episode Aigis DLC has added to discontent for some users, even if it is similar to Sega and Atlus’s initial release strategy on other platforms, where players had to purchase the expansion separately. Players will, however, get to enjoy enhanced visual fidelity thanks to the Switch 2’s overhauled hardware configuration.

The game initially launched in February 2024 on the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC, but this instance marks the first time it is launching on the Nintendo Switch platform. For context, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal were released on the original Nintendo Switch in late 2022 and early 2023.

The Switch 2 release intends to retain the core Persona 3 Reload experience. Players will get to explore the Dark Hour, fight Shadows in Tartarus, and build social links. While hype for the game has been slightly muted in part due to the Game-Key Card factor and the pricey route one must take to get the full title, it does have a silver lining if money is no object: Fans planning to splurge can buy the DLC separately, enabling the complete Persona 3 Reload experience at a total cost of $120.
