Nintendo Switch owners (available on Amazon for $XYZ) and those with the newer Nintendo Switch 2 (available on Amazon for $XYZ) can look forward to two new additions to the eShop next week. The first title will especially appeal to fans of the anime series Demon Slayer. The second release, GRADIUS ORIGINS, is a collection of seven games, including the latest entry in the series. If you’re into retro sci-fi shooters, this one might be worth checking out.
Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 - August 5
Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is based on the hit anime Demon Slayer. Players experience the key chapters of the story, joining young demon slayer Tanjiro Kamado as he battles powerful demons while searching for a cure for his sister.
The story mode follows several seasons of the anime, featuring cinematic cutscenes and intense boss battles. In Versus mode, players face off in 1v1 matches, either locally or online. With over 40 playable characters, including the nine legendary Hashira, there’s plenty of variety. Easy-to-learn controls, flashy special moves and the signature anime art style make the game accessible for newcomers while offering enough depth for seasoned players.
GRADIUS ORIGINS - August 7
GRADIUS ORIGINS is a collection of legendary arcade shooters from Konami’s iconic Gradius series. Players pilot the classic Vic Viper through side-scrolling space levels filled with enemies and hazards. Precision, quick reflexes and smart weapon choices are key to survival. The collection features six classic titles – Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Salamander, Life Force and Salamander 2 – plus the all-new Salamander III, making its debut in this release.
Nearly 30 years ago – in 1996, to be exact – Salamander II marked the last main spin-off in the series, not counting titles like Gradius Gaiden or Rebirth. Now, developers at Team M2 have teamed up with Konami to finally continue the legacy with Salamander III. Staying true to the classic shooter style, the new game introduces fresh boss battles, updated visual effects and a brand-new soundtrack, promising a real treat for longtime fans.
