In FUMES, you tear through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in a weaponized vehicle, blasting rival cars off the road. The game has made a strong first impression – just days after its Early Access launch, it has already gathered over 300 reviews, with an impressive 97% rating it positively.

FUMES is a chaotic vehicle combat game that entered Early Access on Steam on July 28, 2025. Developed and published by the independent FUMES team, the game features rides that aren’t your average cars – instead, they’re rusted, heavily armed machines built for battle. The Early Access version features 12 unique vehicles, each equipped with different weapon modules.

As you race through the dusty, post-apocalyptic world of FUMES, you face enemy vehicles, bizarre boss battles on wheels and explosive traps. The game combines high-octane action with classic roguelite elements – levels are procedurally generated and become more dangerous the longer you survive. Once your vehicle is destroyed, the run ends and you start from scratch. The goal is to stay alive as long as possible while upgrading your ride. There is no multiplayer mode, but also no microtransactions – everything is unlocked through gameplay alone.

FUMES currently holds a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with 97% of over 300 reviews recommending the game. It is also ranked number one on SteamDB’s "Hot Releases" chart. Players praise the intense vehicle combat and stylish retro visuals that strongly evoke Mad Max vibes. Performance is another highlight, with smooth gameplay even on the Steam Deck (available on Amazon for $475). However, the game is not without criticism – many point out the repetitive mission structure, where waves of enemies repeatedly lead to boss fights. Side activities like races or escort missions are also considered less engaging.

Launch discount available

The Early Access version of FUMES is normally priced at around $15. But thanks to a 10% launch discount, it’s currently available for about $13.50. If you’re still undecided, there’s also a free demo you can try before making your decision.
