Deal | Save 29% on a Lenovo Flex 5 convertible with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and RX Vega 7 graphics
If you’re hunting for a budget laptop with some nice features and basic gaming chops, you may want to check out the Lenovo Flex 5, which is on sale at Amazon for a penny shy of US$600, 29% (or $250) below its regular price of $850.
The Flex 5 is a convertible laptop with a 14-inch FHD touch screen, 16 GB of RAM, and a 256 NVMe SSD. The main draw here is the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU. The six-core, 12-threaded chip clocks between 2.1-4 GHz and can easily handle everyday tasks like web browsing, media consumption, and office work.
The CPU is coupled with AMD’s RX Vega 7 iGPU, which is able to handle most lighter titles (think League of Legends, Rocket League, and Dota 2) at the screen’s native 1920x1080 resolution. Even heavier games, like The Witcher 3 and Doom: Eternal, hit between 30-50 FPS at 1366x768 and Low/Medium settings. While it’s certainly not a gaming laptop, the Flex 5 should be fine for more casual gameplay. Be sure to check our dedicated page for the RX Vega 7 for more gaming benchmarks.
In our review of the Flex 5, we noted its adequate port selection, good (albeit low-profile) keyboard, excellent battery life (~12 hours in our WiFi test), and solid overall performance. Downsides include a somewhat dim display with low color-space coverage, so if you work outdoors or in bright environments, you may want to skip this device.
