MWC 2022 | Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook: Intel Alder Lake-powered Chromebook launches with up to 10 hours of battery life
The IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook is one of many Chrome OS-powered machines that Lenovo has announced today at MWC 2022. However, the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook also bears a close relation to the new IdeaPad Flex 5i, a laptop series that runs Windows 11 instead. Unsurprisingly the Chromebook and Windows models share a few details, including their use of Intel Alder Lake processors.
According to Lenovo, the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook will be available with a choice of the Pentium 8505, Core i3-1215U and Core i5-1235U. Additionally, Lenovo mates these processors to 4 GB or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC or SSD storage. Presumably, Lenovo will include the slower eMMC storage with Pentium 8505 models and will reserve SSDs for their more powerful Intel Core siblings.
Moreover, the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook has two display options, both 14-inch, 16:10 and 1080p panels. However, as shown by the specification sheet below, the brighter panel also has a touchscreen and superior colour space coverage. Lenovo adds that the Chromebook should last up to 10 hours between charges too, albeit without disclosing its battery capacity. The IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook will launch in June for €549 in the Eurozone but will debut next month in North America. All IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook configurations will ship with the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm combo audio jack
- 1x Kensington Nano security slot
- 1x MicroSD card slot (SD 3.0)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
