Satechi's new Thunderbolt 4 docking station with 12 ports supports four 4K displays and 96 W PD
Satechi has brought another docking station onto the market, namely the Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station 12 in 1 with 96 W charging, which can now be ordered from Amazon at a price of $299.99.
The space gray docking station for Mac and Windows offers a total of twelve ports. Up to four external displays with up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz refresh rate can be connected to the device to increase screen area and thus productivity. The two Thunderbolt 4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports (requires Display Link) are used for this purpose. If the hub is used on a Mac with an M1, M2 or M3 processor, the manufacturer states that only up to three external monitors are possible via a single Thunderbolt 4 and two HDMI ports.
Satechi has installed a total of three Thunderbolt 4 ports in its new docking station and they enable data transfers at up to 40 Gbit/s. The device also supports daisy chaining with up to six devices and data transfer speeds of up to 32 Gbit/s for external graphics cards and Thunderbolt-based SSDs. Moreover, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports with up to 10 Gbit/s are available.
The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station 12 in 1 is rounded off by a 1,000 Mbit/s Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm jack connection and a UHS-II SD (4.0) card reader with up to 312 MB/s. There is also a USB-C 96 W PD charging port, which can be used to supply the connected device with power. Lastly, the docking station itself comes with a 180 W power supply unit.
