Samsung appears to be targeting the Mini-LED TV market according to a new report from market analyst TrendForce. Apparently, the South Korean OEM is aiming to ship over two million Mini-LED TVs worldwide in 2021, with potential customers having a wide selection of sizes to choose from.

TrendForce has put together a report detailing Samsung’s Mini-LED TV goals for 2021. It seems the popular OEM wants to be as dominant in this particular market as it already is in other tech-related areas, such as smartphones. While many OEMs are focusing on 4K (or even 8K) resolutions and producing TVs with OLED panels, Samsung wants to jump on the Mini-LED bandwagon.

The market intelligence provider estimates that TVs with Mini-LED backlights will reach a total of 4.4 million units shipped next year, so with Samsung supposedly eyeing up over two million units to be shipped, this would certainly give the company the lion’s share of the burgeoning Mini-LED TV market.

A range of sizes should be offered in this upcoming deluge of Samsung Mini-LED TVs, with 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and even 85-inch options mentioned. 4K resolution will also be made available to consumers and TrendForce reckons that the amount of local dimming zones will become a factor, with the higher amount of zones typically offering a better display performance.
