Samsung is rolling out new updates to the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 series. While this month's changelogs are rather sparse, 9to5Google asserts that they could fix a problem that their predecessors introduced. For reference, Samsung broke 'raise to wake' functionality in its January 2023 round of updates for the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 series, having also brought several new features to its One UI Watch platform.
It is worth noting that Samsung has not confirmed this change itself. However, several Redditors reinforce 9to5Google's view that GWB1 for the Galaxy Watch4 series and AWB1 for newer Galaxy Watch5 models resolves this issue. Perhaps understandably, both builds are rather small update packages. In fact, the screenshot below highlights that AWB1 is approximately 100 MB.
Both updates also keep the One UI Watch platform on the January 2023 security patch, despite the release of February patches. Typically, Samsung integrates new security patches every two months for its wearables, although this has extended to three-month gaps in some cases. In comparison, Google furnishes the Pixel Watch monthly with new security patches; the company's first smartwatch may receive a taste of Material You this year with the next major Wear OS update too.
