Samsung really does have some Fortnite on Android exclusives - but perhaps not as many as thought
During the Samsung Unpacked 2018 event, Tim Sweeney from Epic Games was introduced by Drew Blackard, a product management executive at Samsung. He confirmed that the Fortnite beta is coming to Android "this week" – and that those with Samsung Galaxy devices will receive its first invites. Those who order the new Galaxy Note 9 will also have access to an exclusive skin on Fortnite, aptly termed the Galaxy skin.
This may be disheartening for Fortnite fans with sufficiently powerful Android devices and time to kill. On the other hand, there was no mention of the game being restricted to Galaxy Note 9 devices for at least a month, as suggested in previous reports. In addition, the Samsung Unpacked Fortnite segment did not address other rumors surrounding the game’s release. These concern bonuses such as extra free V-Bucks for Galaxy Note 9 users. Sweeney also failed to mention anything to do with how the game will be released to Android users.
The main message of the presentation, in fact, appeared to be that Fortnite was definitely coming to Android. However, it was also confirmed that those who buy Samsung Galaxy phones have first refusal on getting to actually play this port.
