Samsung begins rolling out One UI 3.1.1 features to devices, starting with the Galaxy S21 series
Last week, Samsung confirmed that it would be porting One UI 3.1.1 features to One UI 3.1. For reference, Samsung designed One UI 3.1.1 for foldables, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. According to a blog post, Samsung would start rolling out features to the Galaxy S20 series first, and its successors after August 25.
While we speculated that it might take Samsung some time to release the features globally, the Galaxy S21 series has started receiving them in multiple markets. The new update contains the August 1, 2021 security patch for some reason, even if a more recent one is available.
Even though Samsung has not detailed all the changes in its update notes, Twitter accounts like @sondesix and @TechByBD have summarised a few. Supposedly, the update packs faster animations, a new Weather app UI, a revised Bluetooth pop-up menu action and improved camera app performance. Additionally, the accidental touches menu has a new UI, and there are new processing speed options under Device Care settings.
The update is rolling out now across the Galaxy S21 series, including the base model. Please note that the update is almost a 1.1 GB download, much larger than most monthly updates.
