Samsung finally showcased its long-rumoured Galaxy Z TriFold last week during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2025 summit hosted in South Korea. As we discussed at the time, while the company revealed what the device looked like, it decided against letting anyone actually touch the device.
Nonetheless, some South Korean media outlets managed to get closer to Samsung's first tri-folding smartphone than last week's initial showcase. Taken during the same event, the photos provide a closer look at how Samsung has put its inaugural 'TriFold' together and how it differs from the Galaxy Z Fold7 (curr. $1,599 on Amazon).
From the rear, the pair look identical in their folded states. As the first photo below shows, pronounced camera housings are the only element of note on their rear panels. Additionally, the Galaxy Z TriFold retains the LED positioning of the Galaxy Z Fold7, as well as a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner.
However, the Galaxy Z TriFold is noticeably thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, understandably so, considering its extra panel and wider display. The Galaxy Z TriFold's outer portions are noticeably thinner than its inner portion though, indicating that Samsung is attempting to keep overall thickness to a minimum. Moreover, the outer portions appear to be thinner than the 4.2 mm sides of the Galaxy Z Fold7. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed any fresh details publicly since APEC 2025, although a recent sighting suggests that a broader global release could be on the cards.
