Samsung is billed to debut the Galaxy Z Fold4 in August. While that phone may be the priority, Samsung is apparently already working on technology to debut on the Galaxy Z Fold5 next year, with Apple also slated to adopt it right after.
In a new report by Korean outlet The Elec, supposedly Samsung is working on a new under-display camera technology that will be used on the iPhone 15 Pro phones. The technology is expected to debut on the Galaxy Z Fold5 in August next year, before making its way to the iPhone 15 Pro models shortly after, albeit in a slightly different implementation.
While Samsung will use the technology for its selfie camera, Apple looks to use it for Face ID exclusively, with the normal selfie camera being housed in a hole punch. Renders of the iPhone 14 Pro models show the phones with both a pill and hole punch, housing Face ID hardware and the selfie camera respectively. If this report is anything to go by, the iPhone 15 Pro models will ditch the pill and slot the Face ID sensor beneath the screen instead.
