Word on the grapevine has now provided some insight into Samsung's plans to release a MediaTek Dimensity 9000-powered smartphone this year. Supposedly, that phone could be the Galaxy S22 FE or a Galaxy A53 Pro.

Back in January, reports claimed that Samsung had made orders for MediaTek's Dimensity 9000, with the company expected to equip at least one Galaxy A-series device with the flagship chipset this year. New information has now surfaced, seeking to provide insight into Samsung's plans for the Dimensity 9000.

As revealed by Chinese tipster It's Fat, Samsung does plan to launch a device with the Dimensity 9000. Supposedly, the company is prepping either the Galaxy A53 Pro, or the Galaxy S22 FE to land with the MediaTek SoC. Seeing as Samsung is yet to release a Pro model for any of its recent Galaxy A-series phones, the potential existence of a Galaxy A53 Pro looks iffy. A MediaTek chipset on the Galaxy S22 FE would be a bold choice as well, considering the phone's expected US$700 price point in the US.

According to the source, the Dimensity 9000-powered phone is expected to land with a 4500 mAh battery. That's the same battery capacity as the Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE. The new Galaxy A-series phones, on the other hand, all feature 5000 mAh batteries. Supposedly, it will be priced between CNY 3,000 (US$470) and CNY 4,000 (US$630) in China.
