Samsung: Galaxy Glass may be released as an alternative to Apple Vision Pro in just a few months

With the introduction of the Apple Vision Pro, Apple has once again brought the topic of AR into the public consciousness after a few projects from Microsoft and Google that have not been successful on the mass market. Apparently, Samsung has been working on corresponding products for several years and may now have brought forward the launch of an AR system considerably.

Korean magazine MK.co.kr reports that Samsung is likely to introduce the Galaxy Glass XR headset at least in the first half of 2024. The magazine refers to sources in the industry and remains quite vague in this regard. The new product was originally scheduled for release at the end of 2024. The credibility of the leak is reinforced by a trademark application - Samsung has supposedly secured the Flex Magic brand.

The leak cannot be confirmed at the moment, and there is currently no official statement from Samsung either. The Samsung glasses are supposedly being developed in collaboration with Qualcomm and Google. Qualcomm is to supply the corresponding computing chip and Google, as the Android developer, is to contribute to the operating system. The Samsung Galaxy Glass could thus be interpreted as an answer to the Apple Vision Pro from companies associated with Android.

The question of price is also unclear. The Apple Vision Pro is likely to be far too expensive for the mass market, at least in the first version with a price tag of $3500. Samsung could go on the offensive here with a low-cost alternative.
