We've already reported on several leaks about the successors to the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A25, but now German Winfuture editor and leaker Roland Quandt has provided an overview of virtually all important details about the new Samsung mid-range of 2025. With the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra already in the bag, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona starting on March 3 will see the presentation of the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26.
Similarities
At first glance, the three new Samsung midrange models look very similar, but differ in the details. First off, the similarities: All three offer a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 and a 120 Hz refresh rate as well as a triple camera with a 50-MP main camera, F/1.8 aperture, PDAF, a 4K30 recording function and OIS. Other similarities include stereo speakers, an IP67-certified casing, a 5,000 mAh battery, dual SIM and a USB-C port as well as support for 5G, NFC, GPS and Bluetooth 5.3. All three will launch with One UI 7 before older Galaxy phones receive the Android 15 update.
Differences
The Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 are likely to have the same display with a maximum brightness of 1200 nits, a punch hole for a 12 MP front camera and an under-display fingerprint sensor. In contrast, the Galaxy A26 still has an older notch for the 13 MP selfie cam and the fingerprint sensor is located in the power button. In terms of display glass, the Galaxy A56 will have Gorilla Glass Victus, the Galaxy A36 Gorilla Glass 7+ and the Galaxy A26 only a general "Gorilla Glass". The Galaxy A56 will be powered by the new Exynos 1580 with 8 GB RAM, the Galaxy A36 by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with 6 or 8 GB RAM, and the Galaxy A26 by the Exynos 1380 and 6 or 8 GB RAM.
The 50 MP main camera in the Galaxy A56 is complemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide angle with F/2.2 aperture and a 5 MP macro with F/2.4 aperture, while the ultra-wide angle in the Galaxy A36 is 8 MP with F/2.2 aperture and the macro is the same 5 MP sensor as in the Galaxy A56. The Galaxy A26 is even more slimmed down in terms of camera technology and only offers the 8 MP ultra-wide angle and a 2 MP F/2.4 macro camera.
The 5,000 mAh battery charges the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 with up to 45W, and the Galaxy A26 with up to 25W. The Galaxy A56 does not have a headphone jack, but does have a metal housing. In complete contrast, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26 come in a plastic housing with a 3.5mm jack, and the Galaxy A26 even has a micro SD slot. According to the leak, only the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 are eSIM capable, which at 197 grams and 195 grams weigh slightly less than the Galaxy A26 at 200 grams. In terms of size, the three Samsung phones hardly differ from each other, but at 7.7 mm, the Galaxy A26 is slightly taller and thicker than its 7.4 mm siblings.
Euro prices and launch date
According to Winfuture sources, the starting prices this year will be the same as last year. This would mean that the Galaxy A56 will be available from €479, the Galaxy A36 from €379 and the Galaxy A26 from €299. None of this information has yet been officially confirmed, but Samsung has at least confirmed the launch date of March 2 via a teaser (see below).
