Roomba i5 and i5+ robot vacuums with self-emptying dustbin option launch in Europe
iRobot has launched the Roomba i5 and i5+ robot vacuums in Europe. The devices have ten times the suction power of the Roomba 600 series, making them ideal for pet owners or people with allergies.
Dirt detect technology ensures that the vacuum focuses on the messiest areas and dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to ensure they maintain contact on uneven surfaces. The robot creates an Imprint Smart Map which you can use to trigger cleaning in particular rooms in your home.
The gadget will provide an estimated cleaning time in the iRobot Home App, which you can use to control the vacuum and schedule future cleans. The vacuum will learn your habits and suggest cleaning timetables.
The robot will even suggest extra cleaning if the pollen count is high in your area or if it's pet shedding season. Alternatively, you can control the i5 robots with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa voice commands.
You can connect the i5 series to the Braava Jet m6 mopping robot for coordinated cleaning; for example, the Braava Jet can start to clean as soon as the i5 vacuum has finished. For up to 60 days of hands-free cleaning, you can opt for the i5+.
The more expensive model comes with Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal, which automatically empties the robot's dustbin up to 30 times. You can now buy the Roomba i5 for €449 and the Roomba i5+ for €699.
