The new commercial showcases the capabilities of Microsoft's Paint 3D app while also driving home a message of inclusion and celebration — just the right theme for the holiday season.

3D content creation and sharing is something that Microsoft has been vehemently emphasizing throughout 2017. Be it with the Paint 3D app or the new Story Remix feature in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, 3D and creativity are all over the place. Now, Microsoft has dished out a new commercial that showcases a few models all created in Paint 3D in the holiday spirit. The models help to demonstrate the capabilities of the Paint 3D app while simultaneously sending a message of diversity and inclusion.

The video description on YouTube reads —

When we are inclusive and celebrate our differences we can make the world a better place. 3D Holiday tells the story of a young girl who goes on an imaginary adventure through space where she and “Gabe the Yeti” encounter various characters who need a little love and support, culminating in a celebration for all.

This year, Microsoft has introduced the updated Surface Pro tablet along with the Surface Book 2 with support for a more sensitive Surface Pen and the Surface Dial. IFA 2017 also saw the launch of affordable Windows Mixed Reality headsets bringing Mixed Reality within the reach of many. Content creation, therefore, has driven most of Windows 10's development this year. We could also see these capabilities evolve in subsequent iterations of the OS.

The characters in the ad are also available to download via Remix3D.com and can be used in your own projects. It sure seems to be a great way to kick off the holidays.

I am a cell and molecular biologist and computers have been an integral part of my life ever since I laid my hands on my first PC which was based on an Intel Celeron 266 MHz processor, 16 MB RAM and a modest 2 GB hard disk. Since then, I’ve seen my passion for technology evolve with the times. From traditional floppy based storage and running DOS commands for every other task, to the connected cloud and shared social experiences we take for granted today, I consider myself fortunate to have witnessed a sea change in the technology landscape. I honestly feel that the best is yet to come, when things like AI and cloud computing mature further. When I am not out finding the next big cure for cancer, I read and write about a lot of technology related stuff or go about ripping and re-assembling PCs and laptops.
