A new leak claims that phones with 8,000 mAh batteries are on the way, with OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Realme all expected to present such offerings in the coming months. At least one of those phones is also tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

The past year has seen big advancements in smartphone battery capacities, and it appears that trend is only set to continue. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max recently launched with a 7,500 mAh battery in tow and, according to a new leak, other OEMs have devices with 8,000 mAh batteries in the works as well.

As shared by Smart Pikachu, Realme, OnePlus, and Xiaomi all have phones being primed to debut sporting batteries with capacities in the 8,000 mAh range. For Realme, that device will be the Realme Neo8, a direct successor to the Realme Neo7 that debuted at the end of 2024 and featured a 7,000 mAh unit.

It's unclear which OnePlus model will play host to an 8,000 mAh battery but current information indicates it could be the rumored OnePlus Turbo. This device is said to be a performance-focused mid-range offering and could be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. There's also a chance that this could be one of the OnePlus Ace6 models, however.

Lastly, Xiaomi will also present an identical offering, although that's unlikely to happen till next year with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 in China. If previous generations are any indication, that phone will be rebadged as the Poco X8 Pro globally, but can be expected to house a smaller battery than its Chinese counterpart as has become the norm with Xiaomi's releases.
