Xiaomi has announced that Redmi Note 8 Pro devices operating on the China MIUI 12 ROM will start receiving a new beta stable update of the Android overlay via OTA. For the moment, only random users of the Redmi Note 8 Pro will get the new MIUI 12 update, which brings the October 2020 security patch with it.

Some Redmi Note 8 Pro users with the China ROM model should soon start receiving a new MIUI 12 update in the form of version V12.0.4.0.QGGCNXM. This news has just been announced on the official Xiaomi Mi Community forum, with the beta stable update being pushed out over-the-air (OTA) to a select few during this initial testing phase.

The new Redmi Note 8 Pro ROM will be given a wider public rollout if no issues are reported during the beta-testing stage, with obviously China models receiving this particular update first while firmware upgrades for other regions containing the new changes are prepared for a later release. According to one source, this new MIUI 12 update changelog consists of the October 2020 security patch, further security improvements, and a control center optimization.

An official recovery ROM weighing in at 2.5 GB is available for download for Redmi Note 8 Pro owners who enjoy experimenting with the latest updates, although Xiaomi has warned that leaking of the download link is strictly prohibited, and users might face certain issues if they unofficially install this China beta stable ROM.
