The Redmi Note 15 series may soon rival its predecessor in the number of models available. The series made its debut this month in China with the launch of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G, and the Redmi Note 15 5G. Now, Redmi has quietly announced a fourth model called the Redmi Note 15R in its home country.
Technically, the Redmi Note 15R isn't a new device but a rebadge of the Redmi 15 5G sold in India. There's also a Redmi 15 4G that is sold in Europe (available on Amazon.de for €159). The Redmi Note 15R has a 6.9-inch display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The display supports DC dimming, Wet Touch Technology 2.0, and has a max brightness of 850 nits.
Powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, the Redmi Note 15R also has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It will be available in three configurations — 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB. There's also a Micro SD card slot for adding more storage.
Despite the fact that the phone appears to have a triple rear camera setup, there are actually only two rear cameras — a 50MP primary sensor paired with an auxiliary lens. It also has an 8MP front-facing camera. Both the rear and front camera can record in 1080p at 30 fps.
The Redmi Note 15R has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, IR blaster, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res audio certification, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 5. It also has dual-SIM support and is rated IP64 for dust and water resistance. Like the other models of the Redmi Note 15 family, the Redmi Note 15R has a massive 7,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast wired charging and 18W reverse wired charging.
Pricing for the Redmi Note 15R starts at CNY 1,499 (~$209/€178) for the base model, goes up to CNY 1,899 (~$265/€226) for the 12GB RAM version with 256GB of storage, and stops at CNY 2,199 (~$307/€262) for the top model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It is available in Glacier White, Shadow Black, and Sandy Purple.
