Rare Apple leak: AirPods Pro 4 promo video confirms new camera feature

It’s quite rare for Apple’s promo videos to leak before a product launch. The video discovered just a few hours ago in the latest macOS 26.7 beta version reveals which feature will take center stage in Apple’s next earbuds generation. As many leaks in recent weeks and months have already suggested, the next AirPods Pro models with internal model number B790 will be equipped with small cameras for the first time. They will provide Apple Intelligence with information about the environment. It is precisely this feature that is now confirmed in the leaked video:
For Visual Intelligence, not for photos and videos
The 13-second video clip shown on X appears to be just an excerpt from a longer video in which Siri suggests that the AirPods user can save objects they like for later, in this case, a book. This will allow Apple’s AI assistant to answer questions about its surroundings and saved items in the future. The full video also appears to address questions about setting up the earbuds—which are likely to launch as the AirPods Pro 4—as reported by MacRumors, and even warn the user if the camera is covered by hair.
Given the current debate surrounding the increasing number of cameras in our daily lives, such as those in smart glasses like Meta’s, the issue of privacy arises. However, Apple analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg offers reassurance: As has been reported multiple times, the cameras in Apple’s next AirPods will not be used to take photos or videos but will be used exclusively for Apple’s Visual Intelligence. The launch is expected in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
