Samsung is said to be working on Galaxy-branded headphones that could rival the AirPods Max. While Samsung has not shared any information, code for the Galaxy Wearable app has hinted at their existence.

Last month, it was reported that Samsung is working on over-ear headphones that could rival the AirPods Max (buy on Amazon). These are internally codenamed Galaxy H1 and are expected to be flagship offerings. New information has now surfaced, shedding light on some of the features that can be expected from the Galaxy headphones.

The folks over at SammyGuru were digging around an APK file where they found new references associated with model number SM-U700, which is believed to be for the Galaxy H1 headphones. While they didn’t specify which APK it was, the original reference was found in the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app, so it could be the source of the new information as well.

Starting with the design, the H1 has been specified as “headphones,” so that pretty much confirms the form factor, though the exact design remains a mystery. There’s going to be both physical and touch controls. In terms of features, the original report mentioned ANC (active noise cancelation), which is no surprise, and neither is the inclusion of an Ambient mode. A physical button to control these modes will be present on the left earcup. The right earcup will feature touch controls.

Like the Galaxy Buds4 Pro (buy on Amazon), the Galaxy H1 will also come with a Conversation Mode or Voice Detect that automatically turns Ambient mode on if a conversation is taking place. It will likely be able to switch back to when the conversation ends.

Spatial audio with head tracking is also said to be present on the Galaxy H1. For better power management, there could be an auto power-off setting that lets users choose between three time windows. While there is going to be USB connectivity, USB audio playback or lossless wired listening is not guaranteed.

As for the release window, the Galaxy H1, or whatever they end up being called, are expected to release in spring 2027. Of course, Samsung has not shared any information on any upcoming Galaxy headphones.
