We have seen Nvidia and AMD launch the next generation of GPUs roughly every two years. For instance, the RTX 30 “Ampere” and AMD RDNA 2 RX 6000 cards released in 2020, followed by RTX 40 “Lovelace” and RDNA 3 RX 7000 GPUs in 2022. Keeping this pattern in mind, one would expect the next-gen RTX 60 and the RDNA 5 cards to come out sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. However, according to RedGamingTech, the RTX 60 and RDNA 5 release dates could be pushed back.
RTX 60 release date
Per RGT, initial reports suggested that the RTX 60 GPUs would launch in Q1 or early Q2 2027. However, AIBs are reportedly skeptical that the RTX 60 cards would even launch in 2027, and now expect a late 2027 or 2028 release date. Another source told the leaker that the next-gen GeForce GPUs could come out in the latter part of 2027, in Q3 or Q4.
AMD RDNA 5 release date
In addition to the launch date of the RTX 60 cards, RGT also claims that the RDNA 5 GPUs could come out at Computex 2027. Computex usually takes place in the latter half of May. AMD’s original plan appeared to have been for a late 2026 or early 2027 launch.
This proposed RDNA 5 launch timeline is quite interesting, as this will result in a roughly 6-month gap between the first RDNA 5 GPUs and the rumored Sony PS6 release date.
We don’t know why Nvidia is, if it is accurate, pushing the release date of the RTX 60 GPUs to late 2027/early 2028. If we had to guess, we could be looking at another side effect of the memory shortages. The current memory supply crunch has already reportedly affected the RTX 50 Super as well as the RX 9070 GRE. Unfortunately, memory supply is unlikely to improve until late 2026, according to various reports.
So, considering AMD and Nvidia will have to ensure a steady and cost-effective supply of GDDR memory for the RTX 60 and RDNA 5 boards, it makes sense why are hearing of a possible delay.
