Prominent leaker shares new camera details of Xiaomi 15 Ultra
Xiaomi was among the first smartphone manufacturers to launch flagship phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new Xiaomi 15 series made its official debut with two phones: a standard and a Pro. However, like the last lineup, there will be an Ultra variant, and as reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claims, it will bring an improved camera setup than the predecessor.
In the latest report, Digital Chat Station builds upon the last camera leak of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The Weibo tipster now says that the upcoming camera flagship will feature a 50 MP primary camera with a larger sensor size than the predecessor. For reference, the last-gen 14 Ultra sports a 1-inch sensor.
This primary camera is said to be paired with a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera with 4.3x optical zoom, something that Digital Chat Station has hinted at before. The periscope sensor is said to be designed with a "25.X" mm physical focal length, making it capable of delivering detailed zoomed-in shots.
There will be two more cameras on the back, and the third is said to be the 50 MP Sony IMX858 with 3x optical zoom. As for the fourth camera, it will reportedly be a Samsung JN5 ultrawide. This rear camera setup would make the Xiaomi 15 Ultra a pretty versatile flagship camera smartphone.
Other expected aspects of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra include the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 32 MP front camera, a redesigned camera layout on the back, and a large 6,000 mAh battery with 90W fast charging support (140W Anker 737 power bank curr. $109.99 on Amazon). The camera flagship will reportedly debut sometime in the first quarter of 2025, with the global launch expected to be around March, possibly at MWC 2025.
