8BitDo has released new versions of its Pro 2 wireless controllers. Available at a discounted price seemingly until next week, the refreshed 8BitDo Pro 2 controllers support practically every OS going, have decent battery life and sport Hall effect joysticks.

8BitDo has been releasing plenty of products of late, including the Ultimate 2C wireless controller for PC (curr. $29.99 on Amazon). Now, the company has refreshed the Pro 2 with two new transparent colour options, another popular wireless controller that is compatible for a host of operating systems:

  • Android 9.0 and above
  • Apple iOS 16.3 and above
  • Apple iPadOS 16.3 and above
  • Apple macOS 13.2 and above
  • Apple tvOS 16.3 and above
  • Raspberry Pi OS
  • SteamOS Holo 3.4 and above
  • Switch 3.0.0 and above
  • Windows 10 and above

Fundamentally, the new Pro 2 controllers offer the same functionality as existing Pro 2 SKUs. As such, they resemble some of 8BitDo's older controllers, like the SF30 Pro, but with handles for improved ergonomics. Additionally, 8BitDo continues to include a 1,000 mAh battery within the controller's 153.6 x 100.6 x 64.5 mm and 228 g housing that is rated for up to 20 hours of playtime. Unfortunately, this means that the new Pro 2 controllers continue to take up to 4 hours to fully recharge as well.

As it stands, 8BitDo is only selling the new Transparent Blue and Transparent Jade Green versions of the Pro 2 through its webshop, at least for now. Also, please note that both options come exclusively with Hall effect joysticks rather than ALPS variants it sells too. At the time of publication, 8BitDo has priced both new models at $49.99, a modest $5 launch discount from their $54.99 MSRPs. Please see 8BitDo's product page for further details.
