Updated | PlayStation 5 UI reveal could be on the menu thanks to Burger King teaser

Update October 14: Burger King is giving customers the chance to win a next-gen console, and the rules for the PS5 sweepstakes have now been published online. It might be worth entering if you have been struggling to secure a pre-order. New leaked flyer posted below.

Something very special is on the menu thanks to the appearance of a Burger King teaser on social media. The short video clip features the company’s mascot, the Burger King, taking a sneaky peak inside a paper food bag. Instantly, his face is lit up by a familiar blue light and the PS5’s start-up jingle can be heard. Unsurprisingly, the character takes a second look in the bag only to be met by the same light and sound show. He then scurries off with the prize leaving a “10/15” message on the screen.

While on the surface this simply points to Burger King running some sort of promotion that starts on October 15 (Thursday) where a lucky Whopper buyer will end up pocketing a PS5, there are many that seem insistent this is a tease for the PlayStation 5 UI reveal. Adding appropriate fuel to the flames is the official PlayStation Twitter account, which has reposted the promo clip along with eyes and ears emojis.

There have been some interesting comments made in association with the Burger King teaser’s appearance: Could it be a hint that Sneak King 2 is on the horizon, with the IP switching from Xbox to PlayStation? Will it mean the PS5 UI has a special menu where users in certain countries will be able to order their favorite sandwich direct from the next-gen console in between gaming sessions? Will gamers soon be able to pre-order the PS5 from Burger King? Does Sony want future PlayStation owners to interact with Burger King’s commercials and “play” them rather than just watch them?

Fortunately, it seems the answer will arrive in just a couple of days, on October 15. While the smart money might bet on a simple “win a PS5 with Burger King” scenario, it would certainly be a memorable and different way for Sony to officially reveal the PlayStation 5 UI. Let’s hope that AMD’s special sauce for the next-gen console isn’t just barbecue flavored though.
