A new update for the Philips Hue iOS and Android apps is rolling out to customers worldwide. Version 5.22 focuses on tools for the brand’s smart security devices, such as the Philips Hue Secure Flood Light Camera.
In the release notes for app version 5.22, the company notes that you can now set your smart cameras and motion sensors to trigger an alarm automatically. Previously, users needed to manually start an alarm after receiving a notification. Plus, customers with a Secure plan can select the alarm to be triggered for specific types of motion. Using AI, the devices are said to be able to differentiate between motion from a person, an animal, a vehicle or a package.
This app update follows a more significant release earlier in July. Version 5.21 added seven new scenes to the Philips Hue app in the Race Day category, a nod to the brand’s new partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. There are also six new scenes in a new Daily category, such as Arise and Nighttime. Other features include the ability to hide a Room or Zone and support for the Go to sleep automation for several switches; this tool appears to be rolling out more widely via a recent Hue Bridge update. You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.22 from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
