Huawei has presented a PaperMatte Edition of the MatePad Air. Built around a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, the MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition also has an 11.5-inch IPS display that resolves at 2.8K and 144 Hz, among other features.

Huawei has introduced a new version of the MatePad Air, only a few days after launching the MatePad Pro 13.2 internationally. According to the company, the new PaperMatte Edition is similar to the standard MatePad Air in some areas. Specifically, the MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition relies upon the Snapdragon 888, a 5 nm SoC that integrates an Adreno 660 GPU with ARM Cortex-X1, Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores.

Also, the PaperMatte Edition retains the standard edition's 8,300 mAh battery that supports 40 W charging. The latter's quad speakers and dual camera setup return too. However, Huawei has installed a paper-like texture over the PaperMatte Edition's display, as its name suggests.

Like the MatePad 11.5 PaperMatte Edition before it, the new MatePad Air utilises "unique micro-vibration and damping to recreate the rustle and bustle of pen on paper", albeit only when using the company's second-generation M-Pencil. The MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition still measures 11.5-inches across though; its IPS display operates at 144 Hz with a 2,800 x 1,840-pixel native resolution, too.

The MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition will be available in the Eurozone for €649. Despite not being orderable just yet, Huawei has confirmed this price will include a tablet with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, plus a Smart Magnetic Keyboard accessory. For some reason, Huawei has decided against bundling its second-generation M-Pencil, though.
