Panasonic previews PT-CMZ50 ultra-short throw projector with 16:10 aspect ratio

Panasonic has announced the PT-CMZ50, an ultra-short throw laser projector that the company claims can produce up to 5,200 Lumens. Theoretically, this peak brightness value should allow the projector to be used in well-lit rooms. For reference, 5,200 Lumens converts to approximately 2,166 ANSI Lumens, which is shy of the 2,800 ANSI Lumens that the Formovie Theater delivers.

According to Panasonic, PT-CMZ50 can create up to 120-inch projections when placed 3.05 metres away from a wall or surface. Alternatively, this distance drops to 2.03 metres when creating an 80-inch projection with a 0.235:1 throw ratio. Panasonic adds that the PT-CMZ50 runs natively at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. Supposedly, the projector's laser light source should last for 20,000 hours in normal of quiet mode and 24,000 hours if set to ECO mode.

As the images below show, the PT-CMZ50 also features plenty of ports, such as HDMI with CEC, USB Type-A and RS232C. Additionally, the projector can operate at just 26 dB in quiet mode, or 35 dB in normal and ECO modes. Panasonic expects to launch the PT-CMZ50 in Q2 2023.
