POCO X4 Pro 5G camera samples fail to impress early reviewer
Not only has SmartDroid shared hands-on photos and specifications of the POCO X4 Pro 5G, but the website has also published the device's first camera samples. Purportedly, the POCO X4 Pro 5G relies on the ISOCELL HM2 as its primary camera, a 108 MP sensor that offers 10-bit colour depth, a 1/1.52-inch optical format and 0.7 μm wide pixels.
For context, Xiaomi already uses the ISOCELL HM2 in numerous smartphones, including the Xiaomi 11T series and all versions of the Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus. Additionally, the POCO X4 Pro 5G is expected to arrive with an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera a 2 MP macro sensor. The device should have a 16 MP front-facing camera too, but SmartDroid has not showcased any sample shots from this camera.
Still, the website is not all that impressed by the POCO X4 Pro 5G's rear-facing cameras. As the images below show, the ISOCELL HM2 does a good job in sunlight, even on an overcast day. The same cannot be said for the ultra-wide-angle camera, which lacks detail, dynamic range and suffers from image distortion at its outer edges.
Indoor shots are more striking though, albeit for the wrong reasons. As SmartDroid shows, the POCO X4 Pro 5G struggles to keep objects focused or reproduce them without slightly blurring them. Overall, the website summarises that the POCO X4 Pro 5G is good enough for occasional snapshots, but people should look elsewhere if they want high-quality shots.
