The Poco X4 Pro was widely considered to be something of a disappointment in part due to the unimpressive Snapdragon 695 it was equipped with. According to new information, the Poco X5 is on the way—and it could arrive with a much more powerful chipset.

The Poco X4 Pro arrived back in February as a direct successor to the Poco X3 Pro. While the latter was incredibly popular thanks to its high price-to-performance ratio, the Poco X4 Pro seems to have been considered a disappointment by most fans. Xiaomi seems to already be looking towards the next entry in the series, with word of the Poco X5 now surfacing.

As revealed by Xiaomiui, the Poco X5 is on the way. Xiaomi failed to launch a vanilla Poco X4 this year, so it's interesting to see that a Poco X5 could be on the way. It's important to note that early rumors of the Poco X4 Pro labeled it as the Poco X4, so this device may end up being the Poco X5 Pro instead.

As for the device itself, it's supposedly set to be equipped with a 120 Hz display like the Poco X3 Pro. Fans may consider the lack of an AMOLED screen to be a huge miss. Gone is the lackluster Snapdragon 695 on the Poco X4 Pro. In its stead is what appears to be a Snapdragon 778G+, which should suffice for the Poco X5's price segment.

Lastly, the mid-range phone is reportedly listed on Xiaomi's IMEI database with the model numbers "220101320C", 220101320G", and "220101320I", for the Chinese, Global, and Indian models respectively—with the Chinese model set to be Redmi-branded. Additionally, it's said to be codenamed "redwood".
