PNY had revealed that the next generation of its XLR8 Gaming RAM would be DDR5. Now, it has announced that these MAKO and MAKO RGB sticks will be on the market shortly. They will be joined by Performance DDR5, which will support the 4,800MHz speed mentioned earlier.

PNY has joined the growing list of well-known OEMs with DDR5-based RAM on the brink of a release to the market. It will come in the form of this brand's new Performance-series memory, designed to meet the JEDEC standard for its new generation of DRAM.

PNY's latest Performance RAM is DDR5-4800 CL40, which means it is rated for speeds of up to 4,800MHz and has a CAS latency figure starting at 40 (the OEM was not more specific than that at this juncture). However, for those looking for a vibe other than that of productivity, there are also new XLR8 Gaming options on the way.

These MAKO RAM sticks have been revealed as having a design reflecting their new shark-inspired series name as appropriate, and integrate a heat-spreader made of aluminum. This RAM shoots all the way up to DDR5-5600 CL36 (or PC5-44800), and comes in RGB and non-RGB variants.

PNY's Performance DDR5 will be released in mid-November 2021, and should be available via platforms such as Amazon, Best Buy or the OEM's own webstore. XLR8 Gaming MAKO kits are now projected to follow them via larger retailers before the end of the year. Prices for the new Alder Lake-ready products will be revealed on their release.
